A Cat In The Window

Posted by terrepruitt on March 20, 2020

If you are here looking at my Friday Photo, thank you. I mean, I always am grateful if you are looking at my blog, but I feel especially thankful now because many of you might be keeping an eye on more important stuff. So if you popped over here to get a little relief, thanks.

If you have an additional moment, would you leave a comment and say hello? I could use the outside communication.

It is really bizarre this isolation situation.

This was yesterday. The clouds were so pretty I was thinking about taking a picture and then, Nessa decided to look out. I liked her silhouette.

Hugs to you. Stay healthy.

Marvelous picture! I love black cat silhouette pictures. I know what you mean about the isolation, it’s getting to me for sure.

It’s a lovely photo! I’m sure we’ll all be relying more on our friends from the blogosphere for a spot of social interaction. We’ve just completed week one of lock-down and to be honest, it’s not been too bad. Whether I’ll be of the same mind in a couple of weeks, who knows?

    • I am hoping so (more replying/commenting) because I am missing the contact with others. I know I have been commenting a lot more on Twitter than I normally do. And I am trying NOT to comment a lot more than I normally do. There is so much misinformation out there but it is not my job to “correct” it and so I have to just keep on scrolling.

If it were going to be just a couple of more weeks it might not be too bad, but I think it might end up being a couple more MONTHS! And, of course, the sooner we all do it the less time it will be, but there are entire states that are not doing it . . . . so . . . . we will see.

      Thanks for being here!

Pleasure Terre and I suspect you’re right about timescales but I’m just taking it a week at a time.

        • BRILLIANT! That is probably the best thing to do. For me, that is what is making me anxious. I am a homebody so staying home is not that unusual for me . . . but it is what is going on “out there” that is making me go “aaahhh!” Taking it one week at a time and – for me – cutting back on looking at all the ever-changing info would help!

  4. I’ll bet Nessa likes being up high.

    • Ha! She does. She loves to survey her yard from the second story. Although when we first adopted the cats there were locked in this room for 30 days so I often thing it might give them nightmares. 🙂

  5. I know what you mean. I look out the window and only see the occasional person out walking their dog. The only other people I saw last week was when I had to go to the grocery store. It’s a very strange time. I like your photo.

    • Sigh. I am not allowed to go to the grocery store. 🙂 My husband is forbidding me (for my protection) :-). He is doing all the shopping. Funny a couple of weeks ago I would have been all: “Heck yeah! It’s about time. I could totally use a break from grocery shopping!” But now that it is the only thing we are allowed to do . . . I would gladly go. 🙂 Amazing how things change. Thanks for checking in!

  6. What a pretty picture! And thanks for posting about something other than the virus. We can’t stay hyper focused on that and still maintain our mental health!

    • Yeah, I believe we need to take breaks from information regarding the virus. Especially since it changes so quickly. There are so many things I want to share, but it changes so fast by the time I type it up it would be different. And there really is enough out there that I don’t need to add to it. Thank you for checking in and commenting.

  7. I think we can all identify with Nessa just now! We absolutely must take breaks from the virus news. We have to be really mindful now, take it day by day and immerse ourselves in what we can to maintain our spirit. I’m so lucky I live rurally, so i can get out for walks. I’m only just getting the surreal nature of all this to sink in as being real. Sasha, our cat, is having a great time. She was a rescue cat and around 9 when we got her – really timid and not very trusting. Now she’s engaging with the outdoors and becoming more vocal as to what she wants, getting lots of petting. I hope you are doing okay, as you say, this is only the beginning adn it’s so daunting!

    • I just got a glimpse of my area and, well, it looks pretty normal for a Monday at 2:00 pm so I am not sure how it will all pan out. My neighborhood is full of walkers, pretty much like usual. I hope those of us that are hunkering down will be enough to “flatten the curve” and allow those that need the help to get the help and not have our medical system fall completely apart.

I think our cats love us being home, but at the same time they would like some breaks. But . . . they are stuck with us.

It is daunting because we don’t know how long it will last, it will get worse before it gets better, and we have no idea what our world will look like when it is all done.

      Thanks for being here!

Its been a month since this post…just reading comments now. So much isolation and now attempting to reopen. Too soon?
I hope a real vaccine is soon, but i dont want to be the first group to try it.

    • Actually, Son, it’s been TWO months since this post! Wow, huh? Yes, it is WAY TOO SOON to open everything. But I don’t think it is too soon to open SOME things. And in opening ANYTHING, I believe that masks and social distancing is a must. If people do not want to wear masks and social distance then it is too soon to open ANYTHING. I am leaning toward the information that relies on the little bit of science that we know – at this point – I believe that length of exposure is a really important variable. So, that is a very short and vague answer as there is so much to “get into”.
