A Symmetrical Christmas Tree
Posted by terrepruitt on December 28, 2022
I used to spend a lot of time at the Christmas tree lot looking for a perfectly symmetrical tree. But then I realized that where we put our tree actually allows for a tree that is flat on one side, so now the tree we end up getting is usually not even. This is another cork tree I made, but this one . . . as you can see is a symmetrical. Cork, you may not know, is not easy to work with. All corks are not the same size and some of them have bulges and don’t get me started on trying to poke a hole through one. This three is a monogram tree. I left it somewhat plain so that the letter could show through. Having fun with corks.
If you had a lot of corks is there something you could think to make with them? Care to share?

Very nice tree! My in-laws have a cork collection as the wall on the back of their home bar. As a family with many wine-drinking adults, it didn’t take them all that long to have enough to cover the wall.

Oh, that sounds very cool. I will have to remember that – just in case we ever get a bar. It would be fun to just put it up on the wall as you open a bottle. There are a lot of things to make with corks. I have an idea to do a huge wreath, but I think I would need to start now to be finished by Christmas. Ha!

I have two shoeboxes full of corks, some wine and some of those fat mushroom-shaped fizzy-bottle corks. I’m not sure what I was planning to do with them. I’ve used several as ‘brushes’ while painting. Maybe I could make a few cat toys. Despite the number of corks, we don’t have a home bar!

Oh, I have enough to fill probably about 15 to 20 shoe boxes. Interesting to use them as “brushes”. They would make for interesting texture. Our cats have gotten a couple to use as toys, but they don’t play with them that long. I would think they would be great fun because they have a good “claw texture” and “chew texture”, but the cats are not that interested. I have one more type of tree to share. They are easy and fun to make so I will probably make a lot more. Maybe try some minis. I’ll probably share the pictures of them next week. Happy New Year!
