Baby Blue Jay Bath

Posted by terrepruitt on May 28, 2009

This past summer we were lucky enough to be the home to six baby blue jays (maybe more it was difficult to keep track).  It was fun to watch them grow up.  I think most of the six have gone, but I think one is still here.  I think others visit because we put peanuts out for them.   Since we live in San Jose, we have great weather and blue jays are always here.

It was fun to watch their different “personalities” or styles.  One exercised great caution and care when it came to bath time, another one, as you will see below . . . .would get in there and just have a ball.

These are from August 28, 2008.

    • Yeah, I am just about to put them up. When I upload when Hubby is playing his game he crashes his plane. Not good! I am doing it right now. I was ready to hit the upload button and computer crashed. Having to start over.

  2. I do not crash my plane. My Jet’s flight controls become non-responsive.

    Great photos honey!

    • Thank you for stating it correctly. You don’t crash the plane, the process of the upload causes your game to malfunction which in turn causes your plane to crash.

Remember our babies? We had so much fun watching them.

Terre, I’m thinking this last picture, with the bird’s outstretched wings would be good for a “caption this” post. Can I steal it? I’ll link back to your blog and brag about your mad photography skills! 😉

    • Yes, can you just copy it or do you need me to send you an “original” or something?

Let me know. Thanks. That would be cool. I would feel famous!

Yay! I think I can just copy – I did that with the boy and Obama. I’ll let you know if it doesn’t work. THANK YOU! Don’t tell your hubby. If he actually has time to prepare, he will be an unstoppable, invincible captioning machine! Then again, that’s good for everybody, isn’t it? =)

        • Thank you for asking for permission, a lot of people are “stealing” stuff without asking. And that is not right.

If it doesn’t work, I can send it to you or whatever you need.

You know that Hubby has caption pracitce, right? There was a game (I don’t know if there still is.) It was an online game and he used to play for hours and he won a lot!!!! He really kicks butt. I don’t have to tell him, ya know. He watches your blog so he will find out. I think he looks at yours and not mine. Hmmm.

            • I was thinking I shouldn’t because it is my pic. But if you are ok with that, if I think of something I will.

Whenever I look at the pictures where the bird is just splashing like crazy, I love. Because when you witness it you can tell he just LOVES it.

  6. I can’t believe I haven’t been checking your blog!! I will be back for sure . . . I loved the photos of the baby birds here. It’s great that the best pic (well, I guess that’s an opinion) came from the bird that would be cautious. I recently bought a little photo book for Mother’s Day that had baby ducks in it (and then captions that were so sweet I almost cried right there at Barnes and Noble!). The author wrote in the back of the book about how he was surprised at each duckling having it’s own little personality (shy, superstar, loner, etc.).

I hope you will have a great weekend! I have to look at some of your previous photos here . . . I bet I’ll find some kitty cats!!

    • Carey, there are so many electronic ways to be connected it is amazing. I have so many friends that write blogs, twitter, Facebook, Yelp, and have websites I can’t read it all. I don’t write everyday, like our Wonder-writer, Miss Judy, so maybe it will be a bit easier to keep up here. I try to write “in the realm of health, wellness, fitness, and the like” on Saturdays and Tuesdays, and then Thursdays are whatever . . . but, I don’t always succeed. I hope you do make it back a bit and enjoy and/or learn a few things.

Our yard birds (blue jays, hummingbirds, turtle doves) all have their own personalities. It is fascinating!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

My kitty is pictured as one of my favorite mugs. I love her face/mug!
