Lyrics Gone Wrong 2
Posted by terrepruitt on August 6, 2009
I am thinking about playing this game every first Thursday of the month. Let’s see if that works out. I am not sure that I can come up with material every month. I know that I have sung and heard others sing a lot of wrong lyrics, but I can’t remember them.
I was thinking of doing it different ways, sometimes asking for guesses, sometimes just throwing them out there, but, always, of course, asking you to share. We’ll see huh?
What are the correct lyrics?
1. Don’t let go, if you cling to tightly your gonna lose your soul.
2. Strumming my fate with his fingers . .
3. It’s safe to dance . . .
So, on this rainy day in San Jose, these might not be a challenging exercise on your brain, but maybe coming up with of some lyrics you have sung incorrectly or that you have heard someone sing might be. So tell me what the correct lyrics are and share with me some other ones you have found out about.

I’m afraid I don’t know what the first one is, but I do know the other two. 🙂
#2 is The Fugees Killing Me Softly:
Strumming my pain with his fingers
#3 is Men Without Hats Safety Dance:
it’s the safety dance

I had to look up “The Fugees” because I think of Roberta Flack when I think of this song. But that was probably way before your time. 🙂
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. Do you have any “misheard” or “mis-sung” lyrics of your own to add?

Here’s one…
…..like the corners of my mind…
(can’t divulge the first word since that would give the song away).

Oh you! I can sense this one. Ya know what I mean, when you know something, but you can’t quite remember? Arrrgh . . . Maybe one of the people that reads will come to my rescue.
Man, its like it is in the corner of my mind and I can’t see it because it is WAY in the corner!

Sorry, I’m playing with my water colors and my memories are not as sharp as they were.

Oh, I know! The first one is 38 Special – Hold on Loosely. I love that song. I haven’t listened to 38 Special in so long. (I like these posts because you remind me of music I love!)
Jill’s is Memories. =)

Yup. And it is fun to be reminded of old tunes.
Don’t you have one to tantalize us with?
Memories? Sing it for me . . . . .

Memories is from cats :). Also part of my comment above along with other key lyrics I hoped would give it to you. I believe the song title is The Way We Were. Streisand and Redford flick ( absolutely great )
I won’t tease next time I promise.

Years ago in the 70’s when the year 2000 was only a twinkle in the eye of the Universe, when radio talk show hosts were live and local, a morning show host played “call in and win if you can make out this song line.” The song was I’d Really Love to See You Tonight”. The DJ was convinced that the line was “I’m not talking ’bout millenium” Listeners and host all had to look up the definition of millenium! Funny what memories stick when music is involved. Thanks, Terre, for the memory! — Elizabeth

Yes, it is funny. They say that smelling brings back memories like no other sense, but I think music is right up there as a vehicle for memories.
Thanks for reading and commmenting, Elizabeth .
