Beach Scene

Posted by terrepruitt on October 13, 2023

This is an oldie but goodie.  We haven’t been to the beach in a bit so I am posting an old photo for today’s Friday Photo.  The waves rolling in look green to me, what about to you?

Some Transfer You Might Not Want On Your Face

Posted by terrepruitt on October 9, 2023

When I was attending yoga classes regularly I was fortunate enough to be doing so in a “no-shoe” studio. And I know that the floors were cleaned regularly because, at one point, I was the one cleaning them. But I have often questioned how I roll my yoga mat and it occurred to me that I should be doing it a different way. Not all places where yoga is practiced is shoe free and sometimes floors could use some cleaning. So why is it standard to roll a yoga mat? The part that is on the floor – in some cases where participants don’t even want to step their feet – gets rolled onto the part where we put our head and our face.

I have to remember to fold then roll. If I fold my mat in half then roll it, the “back” or part that touches the floor, doesn’t end up on the “front/top” where my face and head go. And folding then rolling will limit the amount of transfer of dirt, grime, sand, grass, or whatever onto the “front/top” of the mat.

I happen to have a mat that has two distinct sides AND that has black transfer on it that can simulate dirt, so it makes a great example. It took me a minute to figure out what that black actually is . . . it is rubber from dumbbells. This can give an idea of the fold and roll method.  The orange side that is on the ground gets rolled right up onto the patterned side where I put my face, unless I fold it first.

Most places probably have clean enough floors, but I know some do not so I am going to keep this method in mind.  Also could work for when I take my mat outside.  What do you think?

Oh What A View – Grandview

Posted by terrepruitt on October 6, 2023

Recently we went to a great restaurant that has a spectacular view.  It was a special treat as we hadn’t been out in years and we had a cousin visiting.  The view was gorgeous.  Here is one view for today’s Friday Photo.

Amaryllises

Posted by terrepruitt on September 15, 2023

This is a larger view of a shot I posted of the red one in 2022. It is from 2022, but I felt like posting it. It made me smile. Flowers do that . . . I have mentioned that before.

Amaryllises for today’s Friday Photo. Cheers!

Burned For The Last Time

Posted by terrepruitt on September 13, 2023

I bought these years ago and for a very long time I didn’t use them because of the slit in them. I figured it was for a pot handle to go through, but it never really made sense to me. They were in the bottom of my drawer for a long time. They were moved to the top so I started using them and it never failed that I would grab a hot pan and the slit would open and I would burn myself. I kept saying, “Oh I should sew that!” Well, I burned myself for the last time. So recently while I was on a phone call telling someone the story I decided enough was enough and I sewed that opening closed.

Do any of you have potholders with slits in them? Do you use them (hang them off the pot/pan)?

Succulent

Posted by terrepruitt on September 8, 2023

Last week the weather was cool enough to go for a walk. I told my husband I was going to go and he asked me where I was going and I said, “That way.” I walk “up” the street then when the class is half over I turn around and walk “down”, I don’t have a set path. It is not necessarily a straight line and I just turn on random streets. But I realized as I was walking that I have a tendency to walk the same streets without even really realizing it. And I past this plant and thought for a second to stop and take a picture, but I didn’t, but it turned out I had the last time I went for a walk. And I hadn’t posted it yet. So here is a succulent for today’s Friday Photo.

Straight Leg Inner Thigh Stretch

Posted by terrepruitt on August 28, 2023

Here is another inner thigh stretch. This one is on one knee somewhat like the “Half Kneeling Inner Thigh Stretch” but one leg is straight.

Instructions:

-Kneel on the floor on all fours. Straighten one leg out to the side.  So hips are squared to front.

-Move hips back (towards foot) and forth.

You will feel the stretch in the inner thigh of the straight leg.

Options and additional information:

-The “back” foot, the one with the bent knee, can be top-of-foot to floor or you can have your toes curled.

-The foot of the straight leg, can be flat on the floor or you can be on the inner edge of your foot.

-The foot of the straight leg, can have toes pointed to the front, out at an angle, or out to the side.

-You can just sit your hips back and not move them.

See what works best for you and what gives you the stretch you need.

As I said in the other inner thigh stretch post, there are many different ways to stretch a muscle.

If you keep your toes curled (on the kneeling leg) you will be getting a foot stretch like in our Toe Squat.

How is it going – your stretching? Are you able to get a couple in a day?

Cat Cuddle

Posted by terrepruitt on August 25, 2023

This is one of those toys that you can change the shape of.  I recently changed the shape from a line to this and both cats have been cuddling with it.  Crazy cats.

Here is Nessa cuddling in the curve for today’s Friday Photo.
