Charge Fast And Lasts A Long Time

Posted by terrepruitt on January 6, 2020

When my husband got his new phone it came with AirPods . . . yeah, it was years ago. Anyway, he really liked them. He had gone through a couple of “wireless” earbuds. They usually ended up dying pretty quick because they were not really good with getting wet. Or whatever. I had bought some wireless earbuds and I like them, I bragged about them in Affordable Wireless Earbuds. I like them, but I am not good about charging things when I am not using them, then when I go to use it, it needs to be charged. I also wasn’t finding many occasions to use them. But, being the generous kinda guy he is my husband kept asking me if I wanted some AirPods. I kept saying no because I don’t really like the earbuds/pods and . . . I am not good at charging and I don’t use the wireless earbuds that Dance Exercise, Nia, Nia in the City of San Jose, Nia classes in the South Bay, Nia Teacher, Nia Class, San Jose Nia, Nia San Jose, Nia workout, Nia, Gentle Yoga, Group Ex classes, YMCA, Zumba, Nia Technique, SJ City Fit, SJCityFit, City of San Jose Exercise Classes, Cambrian Yoga & Cardio Dance, CYCD, Yin YogaI have very often. Then they came out with wireless charging AirPods. So my husband asked me if I wanted his AirPods and he would get the new ones (he really wanted the new ones). I kept saying no. Well, he did well NOT buying them until one day he “accidently” 😉 left his AirPods at my dad’s. He couldn’t go a month or two without his AirPods and actually he wasn’t even sure he left them up there. But when we went back up there he found them. So . . . guess what . . . I inherited his AirPods. I put them in my drawer. I forgot about them for a couple of months. Then one day I decided to try them instead of carrying around my Beats Pill.

It had been almost two months since my hubby had given me the AirPods. Not only had it been months since he gave them to me it had been at least a month before that when they had last been charged. But I thought I might as well try them, so I put them in — they worked! I was amazed that after all of these months they still worked. Wow. It had been at least 3 – maybe even four months and they were charged enough to work.

The charge lasts a long time. And when it gets low you can pop them into the case and it will charge up to about 80% in less than five minutes. That is very fast. Also while you are using them you can charge up the case so when you want to charge up the AirPods themselves you pop them in and bam! they have juice rather quick. If you want them at 100% you might have to wait a whole 10 minutes (or so). So, charging the AirPods is not as difficult as I thought. It is so quick which is really impressive to me.

It is also cool . . . to me that your phone tells you how much of a charge they have. It also indicates how much of a charge the case has. I find that helpful at times. I do find it odd that the AirPods are not always equal . . but whatever. With noticing the indication of amount of charge for the AirPods, I noticed that my phone does the same thing for my Beats Pill.

Not everything is recorded at the same volume and sometimes in the middle of what I am listening to, I want to adjust the volume. They do have four different actions you can choose to set each AirPod to perform. You can talk to Siri, Play/Pause, Next Track, or Previous Track. I have my left one set for Previous Track and my right one set for pause. With Audible you can choose between five different Jump Forward/Back times and the “Previous Track” on the AirPods corresponds to that setting – which is cool. The Beats Pill has volume and pause/play, but not forwarding or reversing capabilities. My husband always laughs as me because when he goes to talk to me I smack myself when I am wearing the AirPods . . . I am activating the pause.

I don’t use them to talk on the phone much . . . but I don’t talk on the phone much. When I am listening to a book and someone calls, I have used them. They work pretty well.

If you take one out of your ear they stop. If you can have them close together they will play, but that is annoying. It is not legal to drive with headphones/headset (both ears covered), so basically you can’t have two pods/buds in your ears. With the airbuds you could just use one and it worked fine but with the AirPods you can’t. Well, I just tucked one of them up on my ear with my glasses holding it and that works. But I find the whole – not working when they are far apart, kind of annoying. I have had one fall out and it stops the play. I would prefer that action to be an option. Maybe volume and an option to stop play when you are only using one could be a next upgrade. That would be cool.

Anyway, I am really impressed by the battery/charging situation. It actually allows me to use them because they charge so quickly.

At first when I would see the case I thought it was dental floss. And now that we have two cases that have the potential of lying around, I fancied mine up . . . hence the blue flowers around it.

So what about you? Do you use headsets? Do you use any wireless ones? Do you have AirPods? What do you think?

Affordable Wireless Earbuds

Posted by terrepruitt on April 27, 2016

Dance Exercise, Nia, Nia in the City of San Jose, Nia classes in the South Bay, Nia Teacher, Nia Class, San Jose Nia, Nia San Jose, Nia workout, Nia, Gentle Yoga, Group Ex classes, YMCA, Zumba, PiYo, Nia Technique, SJ City Fit, SJCityFitI teach a cardio dance exercise called Nia.  It is dance, it is exercise, it is a cardio workout.  It is done to music.  Nia teachers pay a licensing fee and included in that are routines.  The Nia Technique creates routines.  One part to learning a routine is to listen to the music.  I listen to it a lot.  Sometimes I have difficulty or I feel I do, if I don’t like the music.  But most of the time I like it.  But either way, I listen to it a lot.  Sometimes I listen to it while I am cleaning, but when I have the vacuum on I can’t hear it so I have been wanting some Bluetooth headphones.  I have had my earbuds in with my phone in my pocket or tucked in somewhere when the wire has gotten caught and the earbuds RIPPED out of my ears or out of the phone.  Neither one is good.  So I thought it would be cool to have a wireless pair.  Originally I was looking for headphones.  Everything I found was expensive.  I didn’t even realize they made wireless earbuds!  My husband found some that were affordable.  It turned out he liked them and they worked well.  Sometimes the affordable things don’t always work well, so it is nice that these did.  So I went looking and I found a pair that looked almost exactly like his but were even less expensive.  I’m only talking $4.00, but, $4.00 is $4.00.  So I got some.  And I like ’em.  I like mine better than his.

Both pair are over the ear type of wearables.  Both pair stick IN your ear.  On mine, the earbud part seems to be made of metal whereas his are plastic.  Also, the over-the-ear holder on mine seems a little softer more flexible.  I liked that a lot better.  It made them more comfortable.  When I tried his on, one of my ears started to hurt.  With the softer holder they might flex more and allow for better movement with my glasses.

Dance Exercise, Nia, Nia in the City of San Jose, Nia classes in the South Bay, Nia Teacher, Nia Class, San Jose Nia, Nia San Jose, Nia workout, Nia, Gentle Yoga, Group Ex classes, YMCA, Zumba, PiYo, Nia Technique, SJ City Fit, SJCityFitOf course, at $13.99 they are from a brand I have never heard of – Parasom.  But they work.  Who knows if they will keep working.  I have experienced many off-brand – or more accurately – not a name brand – product that has stopped working after a couple of months.  So we will see.

Mine also had a little clip, which I liked.  The control portion of the earbuds on mine is about an inch or so closer to the earbud than his, but that is ok for me.  I am not using mine while running like he is, so it is easy for me to stop what I am doing if I need to in order to work the controls.  Although they are pretty easy and pretty standard controls.

One button powers it on – and it says, “Power on” and off (it says “Power off”).  The same button starts the play of music and pauses it.  One button turns the volume up, goes to the previous song, and restarts the song.  Another button turns the volume down and advances the music to the next song.

I haven’t used it as a headset for phone calls because the first time I tried it with my hubby’s he said he didn’t like the quality of my voice, so I haven’t bothered trying mine.  I know when I am using my regular headset and driving I can’t be on the phone that long because the quality of the caller’s voice is distorted.  Probably has to do with the fact that it is only coming through one ear bud.

Anyway, I am always excited when I get a product that I think of as expensive at an affordable price AND it works.  So, I like to share.  So far, this was at an affordable price, it works, so I am sharing.  I would like to point out that I did NOT receive this product for free or at a discounted rate for my unbiased and impartial review.  But, hey, how do I do that?  I read A LOT of blogs and reviews where the people say that.  Sign me up for that!

Anyway . . . if you are looking for an affordable wireless headset the one my husband got is good or mine is – which I think is better.

Have you ever had your earbuds ripped out of your ears because the wire to the phone get caught on something?  Have you been thinking about a wireless pair?
