Teagan Two Weeks In A Row

Posted by terrepruitt on February 28, 2025

I take pictures. I put them on my computer. I leave them in a folder on my desktop so I remember to post. Then I forget until I am cleaning up my desktop. And that is how I end up with a picture of Teagan for my Friday Photo two weeks in a row. She’s so pretty. Her name means beautiful.  Both of our cats love boxes.

Take A Breath

Posted by terrepruitt on February 24, 2025

I’ve posted about breathing before. The one about breathing being a good thing, how we shouldn’t hold our breath and it mentions “sounding” in Nia because breathing is important especially when you exercise so actually making a sound can assist with breathing. There are multiple posts about pranayama the breathing techniques/exercises that are the fourth limb of yoga.

A couple of years ago I saw a product I thought was cute so I ordered some for my students. They are called Calm Strips. I ordered one for box breathing, one that is an infinity loop, and one that is a rainbow. The idea is to use your finger to slide along the strip, giving you something physical to assist with the breathing and perhaps help to remind you of the inhale, hold, exhale.

I think sometimes we all need to take a breath. And sometimes we may want to do it as more of a practice, like pranayama. Another post I have about breathing references a small 2001 study about how Rhythmic Breathing may have both psychological and physiological benefits.

I was just sitting at my desk and saw the envelope with the Calm Strips in it and I thought I would share. The strips are actually stickers so you can attach them to things and have them available for when you may want to use one. But, of course a calm strip is not needed to take a breath and/or to have a breathing practice. You basically just need to remember to do it or do it when you think you need it.

Here is a picture of the infinity loop and rainbow strip. I gave all the “box breathing” ones away, but I have the little card that came with them.

Pranayama posts:

Equal Breath
Cool Breath
Three Part Breath
Ujjayi Breath

What about you?  Do you ever need to just take a deep breath?  Do you ever stop and just focus on your breathing?

Love This Blue Wine

Posted by terrepruitt on February 7, 2025

Ok, so I like the wine (this is the Andorian Star Trek Wine) . . . but I love the blue wine in this glass.  My hubby must have loved it too, because recently he made a blue drink and put it in these glasses.  I am just posting this as my Friday Photo because I love it.

Croutons, Anyone?

Posted by terrepruitt on February 5, 2025

I rarely BUY croutons. I am a salty snack kinda person. I would rather have a salty snack than chocolate, so if I have croutons in the house I am going to eat them like chips (because we don’t usually have chips in the house). So when I need croutons I make them. Hopefully when I need them we have bread.

Also, when I make them I can control what goes on them. I have one friend who makes almost everything from scratch. So while I might make croutons myself, she actually makes the bread to make the croutons!

I only have a couple of recipes that call for croutons. In one recipe I say “four slices bread – toasted and cubed” not even croutons. So I rarely need them, but when I do I make ’em.

It is easy to cube the bread, toss with olive oil (or whatever you want) and sprinkle with spices (and maybe herbs) and bake them.

Do you use croutons? Do you make ’em?  Do you buy them?  They have some yummy flavors available.

Full disclosure . . . I found these pictures with a write up in my “to post” folder and it was from 2013 and I completely changed the “post”, so here we are. 🙂
