I am so fascinated by our black cat right now. She is so very black. She has not been able to sit in the sun. We haven’t had that much and we have had workers in the house so cats have to stay in their room when people are going in and out of the house so she hasn’t had much space to lie in the sun. So she is so black. Some cats “rust”, at least that is what I learned it as being called. Like a blonde whose hair gets bleached by the sun, some black cats get “rusty”. The black gets red/rusty highlights or undertones . . . I am not sure which, but she ends up looking less black. She is still black, it is just a different shade. Right now she is BLACK! It is fascinating. Her name is Teagan so clearly she is beautiful no matter what shade of black she is . . . it is just striking to me.

I had given Teagan a piece of paper to sit on. She loved it. But then her sister sat on it. So I gave Teagan a different piece of paper of her own to sit on. She just stared at her sister on her paper. So I had to unfold the paper. And here we are . . . . today’s Friday Photo.

I find it adorable when they sit together and look out the door. I also find it interesting because it kinda shows they are the same size (frame), I think, but one is not as skinny. The two girls for today’s Friday Photo.

By this photo you would never know how sweet this girl is. Here she looks as if she is planning something not-so-nice for all of her “subjects” below. She was really just up there minding her own business and then her mom starting shouting at her to get her to look at the camera. Yeah, I would look like that too if someone kept yelling my name.

This is our silky soft girl. She is a big sweetie. She often sits and stares at me. When we first got her she wouldn’t look you in the eyes — now she will stare me down! She is a beauty as you may know from past Friday Photos. Also, as you many know, I have thousands of pictures of our cats!

If you are a pet owner you may agree that there can never be too many pictures of your pet. This green-eyed beauty is the subject of my Friday Photo. Teagan doesn’t care for her picture to be taken so right after this shot she wouldn’t look my way.

From what I understand today (October 27th) is National Black Cat Day. Some places say National Black Cat “Appreciation” Day as the day was created to help promote black cats. They historically have a low adoption rate from shelters because some people believe black cats to be bad luck. I personally don’t believe that, but if someone does that is their prerogative. But what I try to do is counter that belief by educating people that don’t have a fear of black cats, to get one when they can.
When I went searching for a cat I wanted A cat. I found one and was told she was bonded with her sister and that we needed to take two. I really didn’t want to. The person in charge said that she would let us just take the one but her sister was black and would have a hard time being adopted. First of all she had to tell me her sister was black because I had never seen her, she hid the whole time, second of all I didn’t want two.
Eventually we decided to take them both and of course we are so glad we did. They are hilarious together and both so sweet. The black one talks so much and it very entertaining.
Anyway . . . National Black Cat Day. When you go to adopt a cat, if you can, if black cats hold no negative meaning for you, check out the black ones.
I wrote a post about luck and black cats a couple of years ago, and, no, Teagan is not magically hanging on to her tower, the photo is flipped because the place I have it stored has changed stuff. I may or may not get around to fixing it . . . but it is really the eyes.
Today she was complaining about me to me because I was following her around trying to get a picture of her. She doesn’t like the mama-razzi/paparazzi. So here she is scratching out her annoyance. “Get the camera out of my face, mom.”

I was doing some yoga or stretching and I notice a sparkle behind something. This card had fallen behind some furniture. I think it is lovely and a way for me to document some of the lovely cards I have received is to put them on my blog. To me, they make a good Friday Photo.
