Polished Fluorite

Posted by terrepruitt on October 1, 2018

I order a lot of stuff from Amazon. Most of the time it goes pretty well, but sometimes it does not. But I try to pay attention and only order certain things (like clothes) that have free returns. Well, sometimes when they ship the wrong thing is really doesn’t matter if the return was stated as free because when they send you the wrong thing it is up to them/the seller to fix it. A couple of months ago I ordered a stone and they shipped the wrong one. At first when I opened the package I was very disappointed because it was not the color that I was hoping for. When you order things like natural stones they warn you that the color will not be what you see in the picture, but what I received was way off. It took me a moment to realize that this was not the stone I ordered.  I didn’t order another one right away.  But I finally did and now I have some fluorite.

“Fluorite comes in a wide range of colors and has consequently been dubbed “the most colorful mineral in the world”. Every color of the rainbow in various shades are represented by fluorite samples, along with white, black, and clear crystals. The most common colors are purple, blue, green, yellow, or colorless. Less common are pink, red, white, brown, and black. Color zoning or banding is commonly present. The color of the fluorite is determined by factors including impurities, exposure to radiation, and the absence or voids of the color centers.”

I am used to the multi-colored polished stones. With light hues of pink-purple, green-blue, pinks, purples, greens, and blues in it. I have seen some dark ones, but I have not gotten one.  The ones I got were light.

Wiki also states that fluorite is a source of a common chemical used to make a number of things, that is has ornamental uses, and even optical uses.

If you believe in the healing properties of crystals and stones then fluorite can help clear your mind. It can help get rid of negativity. It helps clear the way to joy. It helps bring order to chaos. It helps you focus. It can be used when you need to concentrate or get rid of a mental block. For some, this clearing of the mind can help with relaxation. Help with relaxation might translate into help in sleeping. Fluorite is often used to promote the positive energy while removing the negative energies. It is thought to help relieve the electromagnetic stress we are under every day with the use of everything electronic.

Do you have a stone/crystal collection?  Do you have fluorite in you stone/crystal collection?

Amazonite Stone

Posted by terrepruitt on July 2, 2018

At the end of the Yin Yoga Teacher Training the instructors gave us a stone. We were to reach in and pull one out. The stones were all the same stone, but they were in different shapes. I had decided I was just going to reach in and pull out the first stone I touched. I wasn’t going to root around and try to find a shape I wanted. I just reached in and my hand came out with a heart shaped stone. YAY! I love heart shaped stones. The stone we were given was Amazonite.

Of course he told us about the stone before he gave it to us, but I forgot and I had to do some internet research in order to post this.

The stone is helpful to both the heart chakra and throat chakra. It is said to be a releasing and calming stone. So it can help you release things from your heart and also help you speak the truth. It can assist with communications. It also helps one see both sides of a situation. Because of these benefits it helps with relationships.

It also helps block the pollution from the various devices around that can effect our health.

If you are one to believe in the energetic and healing properties of stones, this one is a good one to have around. It is a soft green color. It is pretty. And I am happy I grabbed the heart.

Goes With Everything

Posted by terrepruitt on April 23, 2015

Black onyx is a great stone because, well, it is black so it goes with everything.  Also if you are one that believes stones and crystals have properties that can help in supporting well being then you might benefit from black onyx.  The indication is that black onyx is good for releasing negative energy and helps with strengthening ones own energy.  I was given a pair of onyx earrings by a friend this week in one of my Nia classes. She said she received them as a free gift when she purchased something and admitted that she was passing them on because she couldn’t wear them. I was thrilled, it was kind of her to think of me! I have been wearing them everyday since.  Since I received them I have been interested in what properties it might have

Dance Exercise, Nia, Nia in the City of San Jose, Nia at the San Jose Community Centers, Nia classes in the South Bay, Nia Teacher, Nia Class, San Jose Nia, Nia San Jose, Nia workout, Nia, Gentle Yoga, Group Ex City of San Jose, San Jose Group Ex classes, YMCA, Zumba, PiYoThe stone is thought to protect, heal, and ground. It is believed to help strengthen ones’ self confidence. With that in mind some information states it is a good stone to keep near when you are going through stressful situations and times when you might feel drained both physically and emotionally . . . times of grief and sorrow. Some believe it helps one make decisions, and if any of you have suffered a death of a loved one you might concede that it is difficult to make decisions during that process. Those properties would be helpful. In addition there are beliefs that it helps one regain emotional balance as well as elevating fears and worries. All things that are needed when a loved one dies.  Of course, those things can be helpful when facing just the everyday challenges of life, it doesn’t even have to be a situation of great sorrow and/or loss.  Most of us could benefit from strengthening  of our energy and self confidence.

Additional information states there is the idea that black onyx helps treat bone disorders and blood disorders. One site Sobrietystones.com claims that this stone is “The Stone of Self Mastery and Self Control”. And “Can be used to deflect or absorb the negativity of others, and in that way is a good stone for protection from negative forces and influences.”

The combined information leads to the idea that this stone helps stabilize emotions.  I can see that one feeling more in control would feel as if their emotions are more stable and not so up and down.  Basically, to me with the main benefits of the stone all the other stuff seems logical.  With the ridding of negative energy one can feel more confident.  If one is more confident they have more faith in their decisions and have an easier time at making them.  When confident and able to make decision it is almost inevitable that the emotional roller coaster ride would end.

So . . . this sounds like a good stone to have around.  Especially if it is jewelery, because as I said, it goes with everything.

What do you think?  Could you use a stone that could ward off negative energy?  Would you like something to wear that gives you more confidence?  Do you have anything that goes with black?

Sodalite and Moonstone

Posted by terrepruitt on April 29, 2010

Sodalite – From the things I have read the main thing sodalite is believed to do is bring calm, inner peace, and balance. I have often seen it associated with helping make clear and rational decisions. (Which I would imagine would be easier if your mind was calm and you had inner peace, so those two things seem like they would go together.) In addition to clear and rational thinking, some information states it helps with creative thought too. I have also seen that it helps with inflammation which goes along with the information I have seen that says it assist with immune systems. (Because inflammation is part of that system.)

Moonstone – I see that this stone is said to also bring calm. Most information states, “Moonstone is a stone of inner growth and strength.” Also, it is said to stimulate balance of hormones. (Which we must remember is necessary in males as well as females.) Several things say it is a stone of protection and that it is a healing stone.

This is stuff that interests me. At one time I thought it was pretty (what I call) woo-woo, but then when I start looking into Nia I started seeing things a little differently. When I first discovered Nia I bought the book (The Nia Technique Book). As I started reading it I thought it was too “woo-woo”, but then they related it to science and it made sense. Then I started thinking that there had to be things on this earth that we were given before we had science that could assist with our health and wellness. So I thought, “Why not energies in a stone?” So, I am just interested in this. I feel more comfortable when I read the information out there (and there is so much out there) and it states basically the same information. Then I feel like at least everyone is on the same page.

I was interested in some of the properties these two stones were said to have. I have not listed them all but just some. I have a few in the house. Not sure they are doing any good, but they are pretty.

Do you think stones have energies? Do you think stones have healing properties?
