Goodie Jar – Check In #30

Posted by terrepruitt on September 20, 2013

Dance Exercise, Nia, Nia at the City of San Jose, Nia classes in the South Bay, Nia Teacher, Nia Class, San Jose Nia, Nia San Jose, Nia workout, Nia, Zumba, PiYo, Gentle YogaEEEEKKKK!  I cannot believe I forgot two check ins a row!  Wow!  My Thursdays got a little busier with the addition of the morning Nia class.  Definitely a good thing, but my schedule got a bit off.  Even though it has been almost a month since the first class, I need to work on my schedule a bit more.

This is a reminder about the Good Things Jar!  Ya know where we put notes of good things that have happened throughout the week?  Are you putting things in yours?  The reason we are doing this is to keep the good things at the forefront in our minds, in our hearts, and in our lives.  Yes, there are things that we can easily let bring us down . . . . believe me, I know, but that is when it is most important to remember the positive.

I am not a believer that you have to be positive all the time.  I believe that it is important to feel your feelings.  If you are sad go ahead be sad.  If you are angry go ahead be angry.  If you are frustrated go ahead be frustrated.  Experience all the emotions that you have.  BUT . . . . my point is don’t deny the good.  Don’t let all the things that CAN bring you down, bring you down and KEEP you so low that you don’t recognize the good stuff.

It could even be a matter of having to look at your Goodie Jar . . . . look how full it is and realize that there are a lot of good things that have happened.  Maybe you are struggling to find a good thing NOW, but that jar is full of good things . . . . and that in itself is a good thing, right?

Well . . . . . even though I forgot to remind you, are you still filling up that Goodie Jar?

Nia at Nine

Posted by terrepruitt on June 13, 2011

Helloooooooooo.  I have my Monday morning San Jose Nia Class today at 9:00 am.  I am not a morning person, maybe you have figured that out from my posts.  By “morning person” I mean I don’t go bed by 10:00 pm and automatically wake up a 6:00 am or 7:00 am.  I CAN get up in the morning and I DO get up in the morning when I have a Nia class to teach.  I like to be up in enough time so that I can drink some coffee and review my routine.  I like to leave in time for me to get there fifteen minutes early.  So even though my Ten Minute Workout is only ten minutes I do not get up early enough to do it and all the other things I have to do.  I also don’t get up early enough to even turn on my computer. I am posting this after midnight before I go to bed.  I have made it a rule that I cannot turn on my computer in the morning on Mondays and Wednesdays because then I get caught up in doing work on it and I don’t get all that I have to get done before I have to leave to teach my 9 am Nia class.

On Fridays, my Los Gatos Nia class is late enough that I could get up and do my Ten Ten in Ten before, but at this point, by Friday my foot/toe is reminding me that it is still not 100% and so I “save” up my toe/foot for my class.  I want to give my Nia students 100% so I don’t do my workout before.  When my toe IS at 100% I will definitely do some exercising before my class because on Fridays I tend to get home in the afternoon and I have other things to do.  I end up not getting to the workout until way late.

Ha . . . all of this is really just a placeholder to allow you to check in and to tell you . . . . . . I WILL BE BACK!

Well, how is it going for you this Monday morning?

Sit-Ups – messed me up

Posted by terrepruitt on June 1, 2011

Ok, so I did my ten minute workout.  I did it in the afternoon instead of the morning because I had Nia class to teach today and afternoon is the time my schedule allowed me to do it.

I ALMOST did all ten exercises twice in 10 minutes.  I was going very fast.  I am not able to do the length of lunges I want because of my right toe/foot, so that makes it faster–I think.  But I had my list propped up (the list pictured in the Ten Minute Workout post) and I jumped from my triceps kick backs to sit-ups.  When I looked up to see what was next I realized that I skipped hamstring curls so I did those.  Then I did my sit-ups again.  So I got messed up . . . it wasn’t really the sit-ups that messed me up.  🙂  Then as I was doing the last set of stability ball passes, I realized I was counting only on the top touch down.

So, I think that because I was going so fast I was basically able to do the list twice going over by 33 seconds.  But YOU do it your way.  Slow, fast, heavy, light, whatever you need to do to get moving for 10 minutes.

Ok, so?  Did YOU do it today?
