New Year’s Day
Posted by terrepruitt on January 1, 2011
So how was your New Year’s Day? Did you get to a Nia class? Do you think that the first day of the New Year dictates how the year will go for you? I was thinking about that today when I started to make something to eat. I went into our closet that we use as a pantry — we had ants. They were after a particular box of cereal. The entire closet had to be emptied out so that we could find out where they were coming from. I believe we live on an ant hill because every time it rains they get washed up. Anyway, I didn’t want to spend my entire New Year’s Day cleaning up after ants. I have other household chores that need to be done, but I am trying to rest my toe. So I thought for a moment, “Great. If this is any indication of how the year is going to go — oh my!” But then, my hubby jumped in to help.
He emptied the entire closet . . . . which was awesome because as you can imagine emptying a closet is just a lot of walking back and forth. As silly as it may sound (and it sounds pretty silly) I thought that it was pretty great that we had this project to do together. He seemed pretty happy to be helping and I was so glad to have the help.
So, I am thinking of two ideas:
The first day of the year is not really an indication of how the year is going to go. It is just a day and if was covered in ants, oh well, move on and make it a great year.
OR, the first day is an indication of how the year is going to go and spending the day working on a project – no matter that it wasn’t a fun one we would have chosen – with my hubby gives me an idea of what a great year this is going to be. I’ll get projects done and I’ll be with my hubby.
That leaves me with questions for you:
How was your New Year’s Day?
Do you think that the first day of the year might serve as a hint into how the year will go?
How is your year going to go?
NOTE: Please remember my Nia Class in Los Gatos has a new start time beginning Friday, January, 7, 2011 – the class is now at 10:30 am.

My year will be a filled with allowing life to unfold as it will, accepting my circumstances, giving gratitude in the midst of challenges, facing my fears and being remarkably aware of the present moment. That sounds pretty darned full to me!
I didn’t have any ants nor any other kind of insect to deal with since it’s only 9 degrees this morning. There are a few buggy kinds of things that find their way into our house and I quickly usher them back outside.
It’s refreshing to hear that you and your husband work together on projects, housework, etc. My husband and I do the same.
Love to you!

We don’t always work well together as previously mentioned in my If You Want Something Done Right post. But since I have had my toe injury he had been doing double duty.

I love how you work together and make it quality time. Our hospital honeymoon, as scary as it was, brought us together for every moment and I loved that.
I think starting the New Year with a clean pantry is a good way to go.
I DO plan on prospering this year. I could use all the cheering on I can get. I really need to get active again, for my health, and to inspire Jason for his health. It is the TOP of my list.
Happy, Happy New year dear, beautiful lady!

I was chosing to look at it as time together. He did a great job too. I have been slow to put it back together.
Your hospital Honeymoon was scary for sure, but I am glad you see a bright side!
I think starting the New Year with a clean pantry is a great way to go, but I would have rather used my “toe time” for something else. But . . . we will have a someone neat pantry for a few days (it only takes me a few days to mess it up).
I am going to cheer you on, Hon! I think that daily blogging needs a lot of cheering (it is difficult to commit to). So please don’t take my not reading and commenting everyday as me NOT cheering you on because I am there—in spirit. I am cheering on your bloggey goal, your photography ideas, your new marriage, your new step momhood, your continued motherhood to a now driving teenager, and your health goals . . . . . RAH-RAH-RAH!
Aside from cheering if you need any virtual assistance let me know!
Happy New Year to you too, Angelia!!!!
