Today’s Friday Photo is a painting I did in August when I was able to join a Zoom Paint Nite. So fun. And I like it. I’ve done two others that I don’t like as much. Well, one, not at all!

While I am excited to leave the Christmas tree and decorations up for another week, I don’t think our cats are. But maybe. The tree is in the spot that their cat tower normally resides, but it is on a table so that they can still have access to the spot where the sun shines. Here is Teagan and Nessa for the first Friday Photo of 2021.

So it is New Year’s Eve. We are about to enter into 2019. Wow! TWO THOUSAND NINETEEN! I am seeing a lot of different things on Facebook and the rest of the internet. Many people make resolutions. Many people pick words to motivate their new year or for them to live by. Some people pick phrases. There are so many things that so many people do. Along with the various things people do that I am seeing I am also seeing the various attitudes towards the exiting year. Some people are saying it was the worst year ever while some people are saying it was great. So many different things have transpired and we all have had different experiences. Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Do you pick a word or a phrase to live by or guide your year? I don’t do any of that. I am just going gratefully into the New Year and hope to live it gracefully and gratefully. There are changes coming up, but there are every year, right? We just face ’em and do our best.
I would like to give you a virtual hug because you may be happy this year is ending and need it or you may be just fine, but most everyone enjoys a hug. I would also like to wish you a
Happy, Healthy, and
WONDERFUL 2019!
I know this is a video of our Christmas tree, and it is New Year’s Eve, but I thought it was sparkly and festive!

I hope everyone had a very nice first day of 2018. I know in my group of friends/acquaintances there are some that are facing some pretty heartbreaking challenges, but for the most part I am seeing a lot of “Happy New Year” posts on Facebook. A lot of people thinking that 2018 will be better than 2017 . . . not getting into what they might have thought 2017 (good/bad/great/horrific) . . . just that they think 2018 will be better. I have a few things I am looking forward to in 2018.
I am going to eek out the last day that I think I can get away with posting Christmas stuff. I received several lovely ornaments for Christmas and I want to share . . . although I am sure they will make it on to some form of my social media next year. I wanted to share this year, too. Some I have already posted on Facebook. But I am sharing here too!
I have two new ones from Pilgrim Imports. You may have read my post about Lenox ornaments. I used to get their annual snowflake ornament. I did it for years. But the quality started to decline and I was rethinking that whole thing. Then one year I received one that was poorly painted and the little gems were all crooked so I asked to exchange it. Well, they sent me another one that was almost as bad as the first. So I stopped receiving their annual ornament. And asked them to stop marketing to me altogether. Their regular ornaments might be better quality, but if they can’t put out a good quality for their annual ornament I stopped being a customer. I discovered Pilgrim Import ornaments. They are metal ornaments with sparkles attached and bobbles hanging from some of them. I love them. If you’ve seen any of my post about Christmas ornaments before you have probably seen one or two of them. This year I received two new ones. A jelly fish with pink and blue “pearls” attached. And a giraffe adorned with glass beads!
And . . . as I said, Lenox’s regular ornaments might be fine because we receive a beautiful glass Angel that says HOPE from my sister-in-law. It is also not the regular porcelain (or whatever the snowflakes are made of) type of ornaments I used to collect.
I also was gifted a silver star and a beautiful blue butterfly. The angel I received on Christmas and our tree is a little too droopy for me to trust her on it. I don’t think the branches would hold her safely. But the star and butterfly are not as fragile so they went on right away.
I am looking forward to decorating with them next Christmas. I am not looking forward to taking down the tree and all the decorations. So much so that I haven’t even started yet.
Happy 2018. Is there anything you are looking forward to in 2018?

So, Happy New Year, huh? Yeah! Let’s just make it a good year. There is always going to be stuff going on that we can focus on to make it a “bad” year, but let’s not focus on that. Let’s just decide it is going to be a good year and make it be a good year. Well, again, I have that whole “thing” with years and days and the like being “bad” or “good”. They actually just are. It is the moments IN the year/day. The moments that make up the year that one might label “bad” or “good”, but to label the entire length of time bad or good, is just not something I do. So . . . let’s make a lot of fun, exciting, smile-worthy moments in 2017!
We shall have so many smile-worthy moments that when something happens that makes us sad or upset we will be able to face it better. We can make it through and not have it turn us into permanent mush. I mean sometimes things will happen in life where you might need to take some time to be “mush” – not doing anything, and just process the situation. But I don’t think it is good to stay mush. There are too many good things in life to just be a pile of mush. So, if there are a lot of experiences that have created smiles AND things to come that will create smiles it is easier to get through the mush times.
My hubby and I read all the things in our Goodie Jar last night. It was fun to be reminded of some of the smile-worthy moments. I did forget about a lot of them, so it was wonderful to be reminded.
I’ve had a week off from my Nia, yoga, and stretch classes and I am ready to get back to them. We are going to be moving and grooving into 2017. We had a nice rain to help us get a clean start in the new year. It is looking good!
I hope you had a nice Holiday Season.
I am wishing you a very
Happy, Healthy, and
WONDERFUL 2017!
Make it so!

Ok, I have said it before and you all know it . . . we all deal with things differently. We all process things differently. We all have had different experiences in life so it is different for everyone. So, you feel the way you want to feel. You deal with things the way you want to deal with them. You face life the way you want to face it. I am not saying any particular way is right or wrong. I am just saying that I won’t condemn an entire year to being a “bad year” or a “lousy year” because THINGS that happened during that year were not the greatest. I don’t even think of it as “bad” or “negative” that I somewhat consider 2014 to be “The Year Of Death”. There seemed to be a large quantity of deaths that affected my life and those close to me, but that does not have me saying it was a bad year. It is that time of year where I start seeing FB post about people wishing the past year “good riddance” (and that is putting it nicely) and being ready for the New Year because it can’t be as “bad” as the past year. I usually take a moment for them because their pain seems to be bigger than their happiness. But I did just see a post from a friend that made me squirm with joy in my seat. I am stealing it and wholeheartedly embracing her attitude. Thank you, Daphne!
Her post was: “I remember good times. I choose good times. 2015 I welcome you and all the newness you have to offer me. My heart and my arms are wide open to accept all that you have to offer. Let’s do this!” This coming from a woman who sometimes seems to get kicked in life more than she should. But she keeps plugging along.
With the other posts I have been seeing about the “rotten year” it has been, I am just really loving her status post. She doesn’t even HINT at anything that happened in 2014 that she didn’t like or that threw her for a loop. She just states she remembers the good times. Then . . . . THEN she chooses the good times. She is making a conscious effort to have good times. How can she not now? Then she is welcoming the new year . . . and not just the year, but all the “NEWNESS” it is offering her. THEN . . . THEN . . . she opens her heart and her arms “wide open”! To accept all that the year has to offer. So she is a hecka brave woman. She is not just saying “give me the good stuff” she is going to accept ALL that the year has to offer. My heart is giddy!
I am so in love with this right now. Can you tell? Of course you can because I am making it my last post of the year! Whatever I had alluded to in my last post . . . I can’t even remember because this is my post!
I do sincerely wish you a very Happy 2015. I hope that whatever you are experiencing that has you giving 2014 the boot, will fade and allow you to embrace joy in this coming year. Thank you for reading. Thank you for commenting. Thank you.
Perhaps we can start off the New Year with an upswing by sharing something that we are looking forward to in 2015? What do you have coming up that will bring you joy?

So this is our last Goodie Jar check in. It is #43 because I didn’t start until February and I missed five throughout the year. My five misses were just posting, I missed posting a check-in but I have been filling my “jar” all year round.
I was talking to my friend and she asked what I was going to do with them after I read them all and I hadn’t thought of that. I figured I would just throw them away. She is much more organized than I am and she is going to save hers in her “save box”. She has a box that she puts stuff in all year. What doesn’t fit doesn’t get saved. Then after about five years she empties five boxes into ziplock bags and puts them in a larger container. So she has many of her precious memories saved all nicely and neatly. I was very impressed. My memories; cards, ticket stubs, cruise cards, room keys, etc. are stashed in nooks and crannies all over the house. So she is going to save hers. Because she has a place to put them. I don’t have a place.
I might scan them, but I’m not sure I will make time for that. Whatever I end up doing with the notes of good things from my good thing jar I know I had a great time making note of the good things. And I know I will enjoy reading them. My jar has gotten so full I have been pushing the papers down.
I hope you have a full jar. Full of all the good things that have happened to you in 2013. I wish you a very happy and healthy 2014. Thanks for being here.

WOW! The last day. The last day of 2012. The last day of the 2012 December 30 Minute Movement Challenge! So much excitement, who can handle it?
How do you feel? Do you feel good having done a month worth of moving for at least 30 minutes? Do you think you can continue? Do you need to check in? Talk to me.
I am teaching Nia this morning. We will see if I get an additional 30 minutes in! I don’t know that I will, but I do know that I will make certain to get in at least 30 minutes on New Year’s Day. There is a Nia class . . . . maybe I will go to that?
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I wish you a spectacular 2013. I look forward to seeing you back here next year!

I always forget about the last post of the year. I mean, I know that I am writing one because it is eventually going to happen, but I don’t think of it as being special. I know a couple of years my hubby has suggested a “blog review” or something and I know I have done that before. But to do that every year is tiring I think. I do love the Holidays and the decorations and I am sad when they have to come down. A lot of people have certain dates and/or days on which they take theirs down. I like to wait until after the first of January and then the exact day usually just depends on timing. When is my hubby going to be around to help me with all of the boxes? When we will have the most time? When do we really want it all to go away? If he is not going to be around when I want it done, then I just do it myself. So I am not stuck on any particular day. Sometimes it depends on the tree. In 2011 our tree had to come down because it was the worst tree we had ever had in terms of dry. We only turned the lights on it on two days and then I was too afraid to have that heat on it. I remember trying to shut the curtain so the sun wouldn’t shine on it and dry it out any more. I didn’t want the house heat on – afraid that would speed the decay.
The day after Christmas I was “undecorating” it and I put it outside. That tree scared me. This year the tree is better. Much better. It will make it until New Year’s Day at least. It is also smaller than our trees we have had in the past so the disruption of furniture and traffic has not been so great so it is not that much of a bother. There is one decoration that I remember I left up for a long time after Christmas last year and that was our Christmas cards. When we receive a card I usually leave it on the counter for my husband to read, then it gets taped on the wall. By the end of the season we usually have a wall decorated with cards. I remember last year I didn’t take them down for weeks.
I also save some from year to year. Some of the cards we receive are so beautiful or so cute I just don’t want to throw them away. I consider them a Christmas decoration. I have one that has plastic jewels on it. Glitter ones almost always get saved. I have some that are actually pictures. Now I am not talking about the picture postcard cards. Those always get saved. I keep those and when the Christmas boxes come down I look through them. It is fun to see how families grow and age. But I some friends who are professional photographers, they take pictures for their Christmas cards, I save those. Frilly ones and puffy ones, usually get saved, as do blue ones and ones with sparkles. Homemade ones also get put on the wall year after year. I keep the ones from years past on a separate wall because for some reason people used to walk in and say, “You got all those cards!?!?” And I would explain that this wall — pointing to the current card wall — was different from that wall — pointing to the years past wall.
I write the date on the card and put it in the box with the decorations and voila I have a jeweled or glittery or sparkly or fuzzy or puffy or frilly or homemade decoration for next year. (Sometimes the card might be glittery AND sparkly AND fuzzy AND frilly and homemade . . . ahhhhh!) I am sure that eventually I will have to throw some of them away. A few are looking a little worn and might be on their last year of decorating, but at least I have enjoyed it for more than just one season. And you might be familiar with my Christmas decoration scheme/theme and that is to SEE “Christmas” wherever you look so this gives me a few extra “decorations” that don’t take up a lot of room to store. They are very pretty.
Plus it is fun to read some of the notes and comments from years past. I have already picked out at least 5 that we received this year that are going to go on the wall next year.
What do you think? You have to admit that you receive at least one card a season that is too pretty to just throw away? Right?
Well, Happy New Year. Make it a great one!
