So this is a rose from our yard (in May). This is a rose from our originally white bush. The roses used to be pure white. It is very pretty, not white, but beautiful. Yard Rose for today’s Friday Photo!

Pinkness
Posted by terrepruitt on May 26, 2023
Oh the bright pinkness of these! These make me think of daisies so I am guessing they are a variation of daisy. I know there are a lot of different kinds of daisies. Here is some super PINKNESS for my Friday Photo.
I don’t think these are the same as the first pink ones I posted from my walk, but they MAY be.
Who knows what these are?

Opinion About My First Library Audiobook
Posted by terrepruitt on March 6, 2023
What are you reading? As you may know, I listen to books and lately I have had even more time to listen to books and I recently started borrowing audiobooks from the library. The library application does not have a “review” option like Audible does. I am not used to that yet so I find myself thinking of what I would write. I decided I would share a bit about some of the books I have listened to. I am going to use my blog like I use it for my recipes. A place to document what I have listened to.
For the most part, I am going to stick to my opinion more than giving a summary of the book. That can be found online.
When I am Gone, Look for Me in the East
The first book I borrowed from the library was something I had never heard of I was just excited to start listening and I read the summary really fast . . . too fast it turned out. I had thought it would be a fun book about two brothers looking for the reincarnation of a great lama. But it was not. It was not fun, it was difficult to follow as the tenses didn’t always adjust when a story from the past was being told, there was a bit too much detail about animal slaughter (for me) and also a bit too much about reincarnation. It seemed to say that lamas were chosen and therefore reincarnated, but then at the end I thought it said that the there was going to be a committee that would meet to decide if there was going to be any more lamas. I was wanting so badly to be done I didn’t bother to go back to relisten to that part. I wanted the drone of the narrator out of my head. There was some interesting bits as it described some aspects of Mongolian living, but I did not enjoy the writing style nor the narrator. I was so, so happy to be done.
When I first started blogging I was told a post should be at least 500 words for this that and the other, so sometimes I struggled to make them so. And sometimes I struggled to keep them short. When I started typing this post I wasn’t sure if I would do multiple opinions in one post or just one. I have decided to keep it short. I might do a post per book. It will depend.
What are you reading?

Quick Feet Facts
Posted by terrepruitt on February 13, 2023
I have posted these feet facts before, but since I couldn’t easily find them because they are part of a larger post. I thought I would list them for quick reference:
—Feet are not just for standing and balancing, they help with shock absorption to keep the entire body from sensing the entire jolt as you move. A flexible foot is great with absorbing the impact.
—Each foot has a network of more than 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
—Each foot has 26 bones and 33 joints.
—With 52 bones (26 for each foot) it is about 1/4 of all the bones in the body (206).
—The largest bone in the foot is called the calcaneus (heel bone).
—There are over 7,000 nerved endings in each foot.
—The feet have 250,000 sweat glands so an active person can produce four to six ounces of perspiration a day.
As you may guess – from that previous post – I am a big believer in moving the feet. I believe they need to be strengthened and stretched. We do a lot of that in Nia, yoga, and of course stretch. I always remind my students of their “Homework”.
Have a great day!

Cork Christmas Trees
Posted by terrepruitt on January 4, 2023
I bought a project years ago that required corks. I had asked my family to save their wine corks for me. Well, it became a habit that never stopped and I never did the project. I have bags and bags of corks and I wanted to do something with them. My dream is a huge cork wreath, but as is my other habit I didn’t start thinking about doing something until late November and so I didn’t get to that particular cork craft, but I did make a few Christmas trees. Trees that can serve as decorations around the Holidays.
As with most of my crafts they are an experiment that morphs as I create. The execution is pretty much never like the idea or design. Especially with cork. I didn’t really think about what a wine cork is (a bunch of pieces pressed together that don’t allow for a straight path through!) and it is dang inconvenient to work with. Drilling or poking a whole STRAIGHT through a wine cork is kind of a joke, a little blob of cork will send the drill bit or poker in another direction. Corks also swell differently, so they end up not even. So, as you have seen and can see the trees end up a little “not perfect”.
I made a funky tree which I love. The idea was that it was not perfect just like a real tree. The person I made it for is very flexible and has always been really good (in my opinion) of embracing things and not having to have things be perfect or a specific way. She is good at going with the flow.
I made a monogram tree for some of my family. And I made several of the little trees. Every time I showed one of the little ones to my husband he asked, “Is that ours?” So I got the impression he thought we needed one. So I made one for us. I think I am going to add some pins to it, but we will see.
I sent little ornaments along in case the recipients (of the funky tree and monogrammed tree) wanted to add more decorations. The monogrammed one is actually somewhat plain to let the “B” show through.
I did realize as I was typing this that a cork wreath does not have to be for Christmas. I hope to work on it through out the year!
Yay or nay to the cork trees? Which tree do you like the best?

Sparkles And Joy
Posted by terrepruitt on December 29, 2022
Yes, I AM obsessed with my Christmas tree and my decorations that is why I am posting pictures all month. I love the lights and the sparkle, plus in all fairness, it is for such a short time. Today I was just sitting looking at my ornament tree. Such a random assortment of sparkle. Love it. So, here is another shot.

A Symmetrical Christmas Tree
Posted by terrepruitt on December 28, 2022
I used to spend a lot of time at the Christmas tree lot looking for a perfectly symmetrical tree. But then I realized that where we put our tree actually allows for a tree that is flat on one side, so now the tree we end up getting is usually not even. This is another cork tree I made, but this one . . . as you can see is a symmetrical. Cork, you may not know, is not easy to work with. All corks are not the same size and some of them have bulges and don’t get me started on trying to poke a hole through one. This three is a monogram tree. I left it somewhat plain so that the letter could show through. Having fun with corks.
If you had a lot of corks is there something you could think to make with them? Care to share?
