Revisiting Old Post – Actually Having To Repost

Posted by terrepruitt on January 24, 2015

I am looking through my drafts in WordPress to see if there is anything I started to write that I can finish up and use as a post.  I went to a Nia class this morning and spent the day visiting with a friend, so I am trying to post at the last minute (again).  I am very confused it is showing I have 26 drafts.  That seems like an awful lot because I don’t type my posts in the WordPress editor.  I typed them in Notepad.  Sometimes I type them in the WordPress editor, but not often.  I am confused because I also take copies of my posts after I post them and I am seeing copies of the post in my folder and I am seeing comments on them.  But they are showing as drafts.  WordPress has been changing so much with the admin portion of the site I am surprised crazy stuff doesn’t happen all the time.  As things grow often times the simplicity of things get taken away and now what was one click to the admin page I have to click at least four things to get to where I am going.  “Improvements” is a word they should use loosely.  So I discovered the weirdest things while looking in my drafts.  So far, I have discovered two posts that had been posted in August 2013 that are now showing in draft and are no longer on the calendar.  One had 14 comments on it, so I know that it was posted at one time.

Dance Exercise, Nia, Nia in the City of San Jose, Nia at the San Jose Community Centers, Nia classes in the South Bay, Nia Teacher, Nia Class, San Jose Nia, Nia San Jose, Nia workout, Nia, Gentle Yoga, Group Ex City of San Jose, San Jose Group Ex classes, YMCA, Zumba, PiYoSo I thought I would point them out in case they really weren’t posted in the first place.  Which would mean that saminaiqbal27 of Samina’s Forum for police support never had that conversation.  The first one I discovered I reposted as of the date of the original post.  In the admin screen it had showed that there were six likes.  When I reposted it they reappeared so hopefully Samina’s and my conversation will come back.  (It did!)

The first post that I discovered was no longer on the blog was posted on Tuesday, August 13, 2013.  It was a silly post about a silly subject.  It was one of the things I hesitated posted about because it was so silly.  But I remember now that at the time I was really appreciating my husband helping out with the cat’s liter box and I thought it was funny that he was making it funny.  But then as time went on it turned out to be a really good thing.  The post that was gone and is now back is S For Spa, Serene, Spot.

For A Taller You was the second post that was showing in drafts and NOT on my blog, but now it is back, with comments and all.  Strange.

I just found another one, I Smell Something.  Unfortunately I thought I had seen it on the blog still so I deleted the one that was showing up in the drafts, but it turns out that was the one that had been posted.  Good thing I keep copies of all my posts.  I just copied and pasted it into a new post, but with the original post date.  But any likes were lost.  I hesitated reposting this one because that diffuser died shortly after.  They kindly offered to send me a replacement.  And they did.  It lasted for about 5 minutes.  I gave up on that.

Well, at this time, it is late and I want to go visit with my hubby so I will go through all the “drafts” at a later time . . . because I have nothing else to do . . . I’ll probably share again if any others have become drafts.  So weird.

Any of you on WordPress having weird stuff happen?  If you have a different blog platform do you like it?

Funny Name For Tea With Oregano

Posted by terrepruitt on October 23, 2014

I was looking around WordPress one day to see what other blogs I could read – besides Nia blogs – in the areas that I am interested in.  To me the way to peek around and search for other blogs used to be much easier.  I used to be able to go to a WordPress home page and the page would come up with options to search.  Now when I go to that URL it takes me to one of my admin pages.  I imagine that if I signed out I might end up at a page I could search, but the whole reason I am searching WordPress blogs is because there has to be ones I would be interested in and when I am signed in it is so easy to comment.  I have to go to a URL that I have bookmarked because it is not one that is easily remembered just to get a search field.  Anyway . . . I was looking at different blogs and I came across a post with a title that caught my eye and made me laugh so I clicked on the blog to check it out.  The post was about tea with oregano in it.  That got me thinking about the benefits of oregano.

First, the title that caught my eye was Sick People Tea.  Ha, ha, ha.  I thought that was very funny.  Sounds pretty accurate to me.  It is tea people drink when they are sick.  Still makes me laugh.  The recipe consists of lemon slices, fresh ginger, fresh or dried oregano, and water.  The instructions are found on Ali Does It Herself (click here).

I have not tried the tea.  I am not a fan of oregano.  But more importantly I have not been sick since I discovered the recipe a few days ago.  If I can remember (one reason I post things) when I do feel under-the-weather I will give this a try.  Even though I don’t really think of oregano as an herb I like.  I like its relation; sweet marjoram.

Oregano contains very high concentration of antioxidants – according to an article published in the Journal of Nutrition about the assessment of “the contribution of culinary and medicinal herbs to the total intake of dietary antioxidants”.  As a reminder, antioxidants help keep other molecules from oxidation (which can produce free radicals).  Further reminder from WebMD: “Free radicals” is a term often used to describe damaged cells that can be problematic.  Because oregano is an antioxidant it can help boost your immune system.

Many sources state the oregano is a good source of Vitamin K (needed for blood and bone health).

WebMD states that Oregano might possibly help lower LDL (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol).  The site states there was clinical research that showed this occurred after taking oregano after each meal for three months.  The same page states that oregano oil killed parasites in the intestines after taking it for six weeks.

Many sites claim that oregano is helpful in the treatment of  asthma, allergies, bronchitis, colds and flus, coughing, acne, dandruff, toothaches, bloating, indigestion, menstrual cramps, arthritis, headaches, among other things, but more research is needed to prove treatment with oregano and/or its oil is effective.

There are so many variable when using herbs and things, I think it could help for some people for some issues and not others.

You may have seen the “life-hack” that states oregano oil will help deter insects.  I have haven’t tried it but it sounds great if it works.

Do you like oregano?  Do you think of Italian Food when you think of oregano?  Do you cook with oregano?  Doesn’t the Sick People Tea sound interesting?

Sneaky Monday

Posted by terrepruitt on June 20, 2011

Oh my! I was just about to go to bed. Yes, up late as usual. I got caught up watching Calendar Girls. I had never seen it even though it is from 2003. So cute. I realized I didn’t post a placeholder and there is no way I can turn on my computer at this hour. I would never get to bed! So I am using my iPad which does not have all the needed functionality as a computer. Not all websites – and WordPress is one of them – behave noemally on the iPad. But this is just a place holder for you that want to check in.

I will be back to let you know I did my Ten Minute Workout. I will have to wait until I get back from my Nia Class to hear how you are doing with those ten exercises. Can’t wait to hear.

Ha!  Ok, I came right home after my San Jose Nia class.  And I only sat for about five minutes then I came upstairs and did my ten minute workout.  I wanted to get it done before it got too hot.  It is supposed to be really hot in the San Francisco Bay Area today.  I am not a fan of the heat so I know that if I wanted until it was hot I wouldn’t want to do it.  So I got it done, about an hour ago.  But I was replying to my friend’s comment.  As you can see my reply is very long . . . . it took me awhile.

Here I am, I am done and I am checking in.

So . . . . . . where are you?  How are things going for you?  How is your weather?

Thank you for being here and reading.  Please comment.  Tell me . . . . something . . . .anything . . . .
