Wahoo! Nia!

Posted by terrepruitt on June 29, 2011

Yeah, I get excited when I have a Nia class.  I love to teach Nia.  I love to get up in front of a class and show them anyone can move and have fun.  So with that in mind, the fact that I have a Nia Class this morning, I will be back to let you know about the Ten Minute Workout.

With yesterday’s post assisting you with ideas on how to do the ten exercises without the exercise ball, the resistance band, and the BOSU, maybe you’ll join me?  Why not try it for ten days?  It’s ten minutes.  Ten exercises, ten times, in ten minutes, for ten days.  Now the ten minutes is the time frame, so if you can do more than ten exercises go for it.  Well, what do you say?  Got ten minutes?

Ok, DONE!  And it was pretty funny.  I had been out today in my MBTs and I decided to practice the Nia routine Sexi in my MBTs.  So after that, I decided to do the ten minute workout in my MBTs.  Ha.  Fun-ny!

I normally just do the workout in bare feet.  So shoes — MBTs in particular — provided different sensations.

You may recall I bought the MBTs because (I’ve always wanted them but couldn’t bring myself to spend that on shoes) I thought they would help me re-learn how to walk properly.  Rolling through my entire foot.  I was thinking that I could do longer lunges in my MBTs because I could be on the ball of my foot but really rolled to the ball of the shoe.  Well, that went as planned.  I did the lunges as I originally thought when I put them in the workout.

MBTs on the BOSU . . . . different.  It definitely engages even MORE muscles.  I had thought of that too when I thought to do the workout with them on.  What I didn’t think about was how I would notice the shoes when doing the V sit up.

Anyway . . . I’m done.  Just wanted to let you know.  I think I should also confess that I almost skipped it today because I had a tentative phone appointment.  But I decided that I could do it even after that.  But it turned out that feel through so I just did it.  I mean, c’mon, it really IS only ten minutes.

Twenty-five out of Twenty-Seven

Posted by terrepruitt on June 28, 2011

So far I have done twenty-five days out of twenty-seven.  Today is the twenty-eighth day.  I will do my Ten Minute Workout, but I will go to bed first.  It is 12:21 am and I am posting so that you can see that I am still here.  And before I go to bed I plan on doing my ten minute workout — at least.  So I know if I don’t get to any other exercise or workout at least I have my ten minutes workout done.

For me when I do it in the morning that I don’t have a Nia class I usually have time to do more, but I understand not everyone has the time.  That is why I think setting aside ten minutes at least gives you something.  I think it would be cool to do it three times a day.  Remember that ten minutes probably won’t result in major gains.  The ten exercises to do in ten minutes is just something to start you off or to combine with something you are already doing.

Anyway, I will check back in with my “DONE!” and also another post.  Tuesday is “regular” post day.  What have you got planned today in addition to doing your ten exercises to do in ten minutes? 🙂

Ok, I can make that twenty-six days out of twenty-eight days.  Got up this morning and did it.  Not first thing but almost.  It has just taken me a while to get to the computer to comment.

So try this ten minute workout for ten days, twenty-one if you want to make it a habit.

Have Make it a GREAT day!

Sneaky Monday

Posted by terrepruitt on June 20, 2011

Oh my! I was just about to go to bed. Yes, up late as usual. I got caught up watching Calendar Girls. I had never seen it even though it is from 2003. So cute. I realized I didn’t post a placeholder and there is no way I can turn on my computer at this hour. I would never get to bed! So I am using my iPad which does not have all the needed functionality as a computer. Not all websites – and WordPress is one of them – behave noemally on the iPad. But this is just a place holder for you that want to check in.

I will be back to let you know I did my Ten Minute Workout. I will have to wait until I get back from my Nia Class to hear how you are doing with those ten exercises. Can’t wait to hear.

Ha!  Ok, I came right home after my San Jose Nia class.  And I only sat for about five minutes then I came upstairs and did my ten minute workout.  I wanted to get it done before it got too hot.  It is supposed to be really hot in the San Francisco Bay Area today.  I am not a fan of the heat so I know that if I wanted until it was hot I wouldn’t want to do it.  So I got it done, about an hour ago.  But I was replying to my friend’s comment.  As you can see my reply is very long . . . . it took me awhile.

Here I am, I am done and I am checking in.

So . . . . . . where are you?  How are things going for you?  How is your weather?

Thank you for being here and reading.  Please comment.  Tell me . . . . something . . . .anything . . . .

Wednesday I have Nia

Posted by terrepruitt on June 15, 2011

Ok, so it is Wednesday and as you might notice, it is 1:00 am and I am not in bed yet.  This means I have a few more things to do before I get to bed, which means I will not be up at 6:00 am doing my Ten Minute Workout, drinking my coffee, reviewing my Nia Routine, deciding on a Nia focus, and popping out the door in time to be at the studio 15 minutes early for my Nia class.  In fact, around here, when the weather is nice traffic is worse, at least lately because our weather in the San Francisco Bay Area has been so wet and rainy, I think when it is sunny people think they have to be out.  If it stays like this, then people will settle down and it won’t be so bad . . . . I hope, but on Wednesday, it is ALWAYS worse than Mondays and Fridays.  Go figure.  (I have my theories.)  On Wednesdays I have to leave a few minutes before I do on Mondays.

Since I am not a morning person that means, I will do my Ten Ten in Ten after my class.  But YOU can do it anytime.  And the beauty of it is . . . . you can share . . . .

So . . . . tell me . . . . how is it going?  What are you doing with it?  What questions do you have?  One of my readers I am lucky enough to actually see in person so I was able to answer some of her questions, what about you?  What do you want to know about this workout?

Ok, after 3:00, but I did it.  This workout is really meant to be something that easily fits in your day.  If completing it is a challenge then it seems like ten minutes is a good start to a workout.  If it is not challenging and you want more than you can add reps, sets, or weight.  Or it could be that you are adding it to something else you are doing.

It really is something that can work for anyone if they want.  If the way it is presented is not “working” for you but you want to do it, let me know.  You can always send me an e-mail if you don’t want to comment.

Cheers!

Morning Workout

Posted by terrepruitt on June 14, 2011

I am actually going to get to bed earlier tonight than I have been getting to bed.  The plan is to get up a little earlier and do my Ten Minute Workout.  I want to actually have it done before noon.  Since I don’t have a Nia class on Tuesday I can get my ten (or twenty) ten in ten done in the morning.  Not necessarily early morning just morning as in before noon.  What about you?

Also, how are you doing with the ten?  Are you getting through ten repetitions of all ten exercises?

Well, I shall return to actually check-in with my “I’m done!”

Okey-dokey.  I did my Ten Minute Workout.  I am averaging at least twice through, but, as I’ve said before I am convinced it is because my lunges aren’t that long, BUT . . . . . they ARE lunges.  Yay!  I am getting on the ball of my right foot (while my left leg is forward) AND pushing off on it when the right leg is forward. I am working on distributing the weight through the entire width of my foot (ball of foot) and all five toes, because I sense that I am still putting the majority of the weight on the actually “ball” of my foot (metatarsal head).

So are you ready to give the ten a try?  Remember we all have different goals so do what YOU can, not what I am saying I am doing.  Let me know how it is going for you.

Skipping

Posted by terrepruitt on June 5, 2011

Sometimes it is necessary to skip even a Ten Minute Workout not because of time, but because of what is going on in your body.  I know that the tens won’t really hurt me, but my sinuses are a little stuffed or sore so I am going to do a few other things today.  I am posting to give YOU a chance to check in and let me know how you are doing.  Did you take ten minutes to do the ten?

Bent Over Lateral Raises – only 6

Posted by terrepruitt on June 2, 2011

I did my ten exercises 10 reps each in ten minutes.  I made it through 6 bent over lateral raises before the timer went off on my second pass.  You know how it is, I finished that and then just did the last exercise with the stability ball.  What the heck, right?  I was already there.

How about you?  Did you do it?  You don’t have to give us a break down, just comment, “YES!”
