Teagan’s Paper

Posted by terrepruitt on February 16, 2024

I had given Teagan a piece of paper to sit on. She loved it. But then her sister sat on it. So I gave Teagan a different piece of paper of her own to sit on. She just stared at her sister on her paper. So I had to unfold the paper. And here we are . . . . today’s Friday Photo.

Rockin’ Snow Globe

Posted by terrepruitt on February 9, 2024

I thought I had posted this picture during the Christmas Season because I feel it is more of a Christmas post, but I have it on my desktop and I just want to post it.  I have had this little rocking snow globe for about 35 years.  I can’t remember exactly, but I know it was from a Christmas party at my first job.  I had two of these, but one broke.  Along with them I have four little baskets with fake foliage in them.  Two have holly berries and two have pine snippets.  They were all table decorations that we were able to take home.  I was sad when one broke, but that happens.  It is just cheap plastic, but boy does it bring back memories.  It is a silly thing, but I think it is cute.

I know it is kinda weird to have a Christmas thing posted in February, but I really want to post this little guy.  I know if I file it away I will forget, but it is driving me crazy on my desktop.  So here is my little rockin’ snow globe from a Christmas party from my first job for today’s Friday Photo.  I love this guy!

A Beautiful Drink

Posted by terrepruitt on February 5, 2024

I was scrolling through Instagram in December and came across a recipe that looked interesting. I do that often, then I write down the ingredients and sometimes forget about it. But sometimes my husband sees the ingredients list and figures it is a shopping list so he asks and in this case we decided, yes, we would try these festive looking martinis. On Instagram it was called a Sugar Cookie Martini so that right there indicates it is a sweet drink. It is, what I think of, as a dessert drink. As with all recipes they need to be adjusted to your individual tastes and this one actually needs to be adjusted to your individual glass because the BEST part of this drink is the beautiful effect. So you need to make sure there is enough liquid to reach the sprinkles. You could always put the sprinkles lower than the rim, I guess.

You need ice, marshmallow fluff, sprinkles, half and half, RumChata, amaretto, vanilla vodka, and simple syrup. Yes, this is a very sweet drink. Remember it is called a SUGAR COOKIE. Of course you can adjust anyway you see fit, but it may not taste like a sugar cookie. But it could still be super pretty if you use the sprinkles.

my_herd_of_happy_hippos is the account on Instagram where I saw the recipe.

her recipe (for her glass)
1 oz half and half
2 oz RumChata
1.5 oz amaretto
1.5 oz vanilla vodka
1/2 oz simple syrup

marshmallow fluff
sprinkles
ice

We adjusted it to

Sugar Cookie Martini

1 oz half and half
1.4 oz RumChata
1 oz amaretto
1.5 oz vanilla vodka
1/4 oz simple syrup

marshmallow fluff
sprinkles
ice

and this fills our glass TO THE TIPPY TOP.

Put the marshmallow fluff on the INSIDE of the rim. Then put the sprinkles in the glass and flip it over onto a dish that allows you to swirl the sprinkles around to coat the fluff.  (My husband found a bowl the size of the glass works best for him)

Then mix your ingredients in a shaker with ice and pour liquid through the strainer up to the rim of the glass and watch the magic happen. “My Herd” did it with Christmas color sprinkles (red, green, and white), but we couldn’t find those and we were doing it for New Year’s Eve so the multi-colored ones were perfect.

I just like to watch this drink because it is so beautiful. As you can see I took many many pictures.

Armaretto is a sweet Italian liqueur which has an almond-like flavor.
RumChata is a cream liqueur that taste like horchata and rum. Horchata is basically milk, cinnamon, and vanilla, but can include other spices.
Simple syrup can be purchased or made-1 part water and 1 part sugar (warm or boil the water to melt the sugar).

So with the armaretto and the RumChata you can tell this is a flavorful drink . . . almond, cinnamon, vanilla . . . like a cookie! 🙂

We have made this a couple of times since I found the recipe!  It is beautiful and it is yummy!

Hanging Out In 2024

Posted by terrepruitt on January 26, 2024

This is rather funny.  I am posting this because I thought it was cute and as I type I have a cat hanging over my shoulder somewhat like this little cat spoon is hanging onto this glass.  There will be more to come on this drink . . . . it is a martini!

Here’s to the first Friday Photo of 2024.

I just have so many pictures I want to post. I might have to start the new year off with a photo montage.  Today I’ll settle for this picture of a painting of sparkly ornaments.

Off to make Cheese Fondue for New Year’s Eve Dinner.

Happy New Year. 2024 – WOW!

No Room

Posted by terrepruitt on December 30, 2023

No room, and I am not talking about at the Inn.  I have so many Christmas ornaments they don’t always make it onto the tree. Sometimes the tree we get is just too small or it will not support the amount of ornaments I have. This makes me sad. And we really have no space to store any additional ornaments. So we don’t get ornaments. But I saw this sparkly one and wanted it. It is actually quite heavy so I doubt it will ever make it to the Christmas tree. It will probably always be placed somewhere in the house or on the metal ornament tree. It is great. I love it. But I really can’t get any more ornaments.

Ahhhh, Christmas Decorations

Posted by terrepruitt on December 28, 2023

I do love all the decorations. When do you take yours down? Do you take stuff down after the Twelve Days of Christmas? Do you embrace the Epiphany and take the Christmas decorations after? Do you take stuff down the day after Christmas? Do you take decorations down on New Year’s Day? I like to wait as long as possible, but usually our tree dictates when we take it down. Sometimes it lasts longer than others. Last year I was sad because it was a great tree and would have lasted until February but we had to rush to take it down because we had workers coming in. So sad. I am not sure this one will last until the 12th day of Christmas, but we will see.

Putting decorations up and taking them down has been a bit of a challenge these past years because I use our living room as my yoga/Nia/stretch Zoom studio so I have to keep the area clean and open . . . when in the past I could have boxes and ornaments all over. We will see how it goes this year.

So . . . when do you “undecorate”?
