Wow, Friday are already. The first Friday in February. As a reminder Teagan means beautiful and that is why she is named so. Here is my beautiful Teagan (beautiful Beautiful) for today’s Friday Photo.

Coloring Daily – It’s A Log
Posted by terrepruitt on February 3, 2021
Seems like many of us are doing new things. I know when we were originally told to stay home last March many people started new things, many of us started “wearing many hats“. But this new month seems to have us at it again. I thought I would do a Daily Log check in. I really am happy being able to color it in daily. In the original post I had made a key for the colors I would use for a specific thing in January, but then — as you can see — it somewhat ended up being primarily one color. So I have switched to just using any color when I have gotten my exercise/movement in for the day.
The set of gel pens I received for Christmas has different types (glitters, pastels, metal, etc.) so what I decided to do is use one group for a month . . . at least for February. I am using the metal set of eight. We will see how that goes.
I am wondering how the poor paper will look in a few months. I am trying to be gentle with it, but it is paper after all.
How about you? Anyone joining me with this color in daily log?

February 2021
Posted by terrepruitt on February 1, 2021
So, it is February . . . already. Time is so weird. In some respects it flies and in some respects it drags. So, I am having to do some things – business-wise and I am trying some new things personal-wise. What is up with you? What do you have planned for February 2021? Or what do you think is in store? What are you looking forward to?
While I don’t think anything HAS to be “up”, nor do I think one has to have plans, I just thought I would ask because I seemed to be busy and I see a few things brewing so some people and there seems to be some excitement in the air. So . . .tell me . . .

Sometimes Ya Just Need A New One
Posted by terrepruitt on January 25, 2021
I broke down and bought a new phone/pad stand. I have one that I have had for years and still use it. It is simple and it folds “flat”. I love that. I didn’t use it that much so I had trouble opening it because I couldn’t remember how it opened, but I have been using it a lot these past 11 months, so opening was not the issue. Moving it was the issue. I have been using my phone to take some classes where the instructors have us going up and down and so I keep moving my phone. And it collapses very easily so every time I moved it, it would collapse. With an iPad or a laptop it doesn’t need to be moved that much because I can see it when it is up and I am down and vice-versa or whatever, but a phone is a bit small to see sometimes. Or when it is up on something but at the “wrong” angle for viewing from the floor. Now some of you may think a stand is silly, but I have talked to many people who have one or wished they did now that so much of what we do is online. There are SO many types of phone/pad/tablet holders out there. I am happy I got a new one.
This one is blue . . . of course. And it moves in multiple ways. It is sturdy AND stays at the angle I put it in. I just got it so hopefully it will stay this tight and not become loose and collapse. It folds “flat”. I am excited to use it later and not have to stop the playback so I can open the stand every time I move the phone so I can see.
Last April when we were told we were stuck at home for longer than they original said we started Zooming with some friends every week and her cat would knock her iPad around so I ordered her a pink stand that folds flat. The folding flat is a big deal to me because I feel it is easier to store and carry around if need be.
As I said there are all types of stands. I have another one that is fine when I am not moving it around, but this one will work great being moved quickly. It will not collapse and will sit nicely without a lot of futzing. Sometimes ya just need a new one to have it work the way you need it to.
So . . . you? Do you have a stand to hold your device while you watch something or read a recipe while cooking?
UPDATE: February 03, 2021
I have actually used this every single day since i have gotten it. It is exactly what I needed. As I mentioned the other one is fine, but when I pick it up it collapses and this one is sturdy so I can pick it up and quickly move it. It is great!

Many More Than I Knew About
Posted by terrepruitt on January 18, 2021
So, if you are on Facebook you may have experienced the situation where you look at something on the internet, or you talk to someone about something, or you click on something and the next thing you know all the ads on your Facebook feed are that thing. Have you had that happen? Two of the last four things I had that experience with surprised me with how many different ones were out there. Recently my feed has been full of fake eyelashes – as you may know, nail polish, tiaras, and stationary bikes. The two things I didn’t realize there were so many of were the fake eyelashes, the magnetic kind and the stationary bikes. Well, these are not the ordinary stationary bikes, the kind that are just bikes that don’t go, these are the kind that have a monitor attached to them and where there is some sort of monthly subscription to classes that you get roped into. I used to see the commercials for Peloton on TV all the time, but we are – thankfully – primarily watching shows without commercials. But it is me looking at the Peloton that got me into this bikes-on my-Facebook feed situation.
I really thought that Peloton was the ONLY bike that had live classes you could “attend” and that was why and HOW it was so expensive. I thought they had the market cornered, but NO! Wow, there are a lot of bikes out there that have subscription based classes. I had NO idea. Do you know the type of bikes I am talking about?
The Peloton is a stationary bike — it goes NO WHERE — that has a monitor on it and you can ride it as you take live classes. I am not going to get into all that each of these bikes has to offer, I am just throwing out some info and the fact that there are these bikes. As I said – I HAD NO IDEA. Peloton has different bikes and different levels of subscription, but one of their bikes is linked up to where your bike responds to what the trainer in class is setting the levels at.
There is the NordicTrack which has a lot of scenic rides and the bike actually goes up and down. So if you are riding up a hill it gets more difficult (from what I understand) AND the bike inclines! So you can feel like you are actually riding outside.
There is a bike called the CAROL bike it looks like it has its own subscription or you can use Peloton digital. CAROL website says: “AFTER THREE “CALIBRATION RIDES”, CAROL GETS TO KNOW YOU AND EXACTLY HOW HARD TO PUSH YOU.
CAROL’s algorithms calculate and instantly apply the exact resistance you need to reach “supramaximal” power. In each ride, multiple metrics are measured. CAROL re-calculates the resistance in your next ride to reflect your progress and ability.” WHOA!
There’s the Pro-form, Echelon, MYXFitness, Stryde, and Bowflex . . . . these are just the ones I am seeing on my Facebook feed. I did a quick internet search and so many more came up. I had no idea!
I guess I am just amazed that there are so many. I didn’t realize there were so many people that like to ride stationary bikes. It seems that many of the memberships include classes other than just spin (old-school name) classes, some have yoga, stretch, stretch, and more. Some of them, like Paloton, NordicTrack, Pro-Form, Echelon, and Bowflex have equipment other than bicycles that also tie into their class memberships. So with some of the platforms you don’t even have to buy any of their equipment, you can just become a member and do their workouts.
I also guess that with gyms being closed in many places these types of things have become more popular.
So QUESTIONS . . . I want answers, please.
Have you heard of Peloton? Have you heard of NordicTrack? Have you heard of any of the others ones I mentioned? What ones have you heard of that I have not mentioned? Do you have a stationary bike? Do you have a treadmill? Do you every get inundated with ads on Facebook from something you looked up on the internet or just talked about?

Under The Christmas Tree Is Where I Will Be
Posted by terrepruitt on January 15, 2021
Hundreds of pictures of the cats. Here they are under the Christmas tree again. I have found that a tree on a table seems to work well for all of us. It is off the ground out of the cats on-all-fours-eyesight, it allows them their treasured spot in the sun, it allows room for a lot of presents, it just works for us.
They will be happy tomorrow when the tree is gone and their tower is back in its place.

Fun Christmas Gifts
Posted by terrepruitt on January 13, 2021
So these Christmas gifts might not go in the category of helpful . . .but maybe. A friend of mine gave me some nail polish recently that started an avalanche of nail polish “needs”. Since it is more expensive than I would normally spend on a bottle of polish – and I haven’t painted my nails in years! – I thought it was the perfect “ask” for a gift. And I recently fell in love with a purple pen which started an avalanche of me wanting colored pens . . . again . . . pens are not something we need so to me it was a good “ask”. I asked for a set of pens. I was telling one of my friends that I got them and she asked if there was anything I planned on doing with them and I had not. I was just looking forward to writing with them. When I had picked them out I hadn’t really paid attention to the fact that there were GLITTER pens in there. Yeah, I am a middle aged woman that gets excited about glitter pens. So that is one of the reasons why I was so excited by the recent idea of logging a daily task by coloring. I have a fun way to use my pens.
So . . . I feel so very blessed that I am able to really just get simple things I want for Christmas. When all my needs and wants are met, it is fun to be able to get some fun stuff.
Did you get any fun stuff for Christmas?

One Pan Turkey and Egg Noodles
Posted by terrepruitt on January 11, 2021
My hubby has been doing the shopping for the past eight and half months and while I would often have a menu planned for at least one meal, I didn’t always have meals for the entire week planned when I was doing the shopping. So having to plan the entire week Sunday night is kind of a challenge. It is much easier when I cook something that will last most of the week (we are still eating Beer Cheese Potato Soup from Wednesday) . Or if he cooks something like that. You (may) know I LOVE leftovers for that reason – Cook once, eat multiple times. Well, my friend gave me the One Pan Easy Beef And Pasta recipe. And it is DELICIOUS. I made it one week and we ate it for days and I loved it so much I made it the next week and we ate it again for days. But the second time I did it with ground turkey. So here is that recipe with the adjustments.
__________________________________________________________
One Pan Turkey and Egg Noodles
• 4 tablespoons coconut oil, divided
• 10 oz mushrooms
• garlic salt (and pepper*)
• 1 cup diced onion
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 lb ground turkey
• 2 tablespoons paprika
• 3 cups water
• 1 cup cooking sherry
• 4 teaspoons Better Than Bouillon/Roasted Beef
• 12 oz dry egg noodles
• 3/4 cup sour cream
• 3 tablespoons ricotta
Wash (if you are one to do so) your mushrooms and slice them. Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a pan large enough to hold ALL of your ingredients. Add the mushrooms to the pan, sprinkle with garlic salt and cook on high for about 8 minutes . . . stirring occasionally. Turn the heat down to medium, cooking until most, if not all of the water from the mushrooms has evaporated. Once they are cooked to your liking, remove them from the pan and set aside.
Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil then add the onions. With such a hot pan, they may cook rather quickly, so when they are translucent stir in the garlic, cook until fragrant (usually only about 30 to 45 seconds). Add the ground turkey to the pan. Break it up as it cooks. Add some garlic salt and some pepper*. Once it is all broken up sprinkle the paprika over the meat then stir to mix it in.
Pour in the water and sherry stir in the Better Than Bouillon**. Once it is incorporated add the dry pasta. Stir until the pasta is mixed in then bring to a light boil. Turn down the heat place a cover on it – plan to let it cook for 12 to 18 minutes, but stir it often. During one of the stirs add the 3 tablespoons of ricotta. Stir until it is incorporated into the mix. Keep an eye on the mixture you want to make sure the meat is cooked through, but you don’t want to overcook the pasta unless you like it like that.
After the pasta is cooked to your liking, remove the pan from the heat and add the mushrooms and sour cream. Stir until all the ingredients are mixed well.
__________________________________________________________
The funny thing is, when I was made this the second time with the turkey I misread the 2 teaspoons of paprika in the original recipe and I put in 2 TABLESPOONS and it works. My friend claims that turkey is flavorless so maybe the tripling of the paprika really made this delicious!
So good. My mouth is watering thinking about it. This is what we are having this week. Can’t wait!
Which do you prefer, ground beef or ground turkey?
*I don’t use pepper.
**I don’t make the broth beforehand, I just add the water and flavoring to the pan and let it mix with the food
